WORKSHOPS.

yin & yang workshops

A series of DANCE & YOGA workshops
lead by Sheida Mas at Battersea Yoga, London.

Designed to balance your Yin & Yang energies and eliminate energetic blockages through free movement, fun choreography (the Yang) and a bit
of delightful Yin Yoga to balance it out (the Yin).

THE CONCEPT OF YIN & YANG:
The Yin Yang is perhaps the most known and documented concept used within Taoism. Yin looks for stillness, Yang for movement. One can not exist without the other, too much Yin is not good, not too much Yang. Neither Yin nor Yang is absolute. Nothing is completely Yin or completely Yang. Each aspect contains the beginning point for the other aspect. They symbolize two halves that together complete wholeness. The Yin represents the darkness, the moon, the feminine energy, the night, and passiveness . The Yang energy represents the brightness, the sun, the masculine energy, the day, the being active . Health is found in the balance between both energies

YIN YOGA:

Yin Yoga is greatly influenced by Chinese medicine. In it we find the concept of "QI", also called "Prana" in India or "Life Energy" in the Western world. The QI is the link between Spirit, Body & Mind. It is our vital force and it flows through channels called the MERIDIANS. Chinese medicine works on balancing the QI to obtain better health. Yogis, long ago, discovered that opening the major energy channels (Nadis & Meridians) increases the circulation of QI and amplifies our energy, so they developed a series of postures (asanas) that either compress or stretch the meridian lines eliminating blockages so energy can flow freely again. Every asana focuses on a certain meridian and certain organs, and through movement, stillness and meditation Yin brings to our life more balance & health.
